Leppitsch returns to Tigers in AFL
Oct 6, 2016 - 8:05 AM Sacked Brisbane coach Justin Leppitsch will return to Richmond and work again under Damien Hardwick as one of his AFL assistants. The Tigers have confirmed speculation that Leppitsch would be back at Punt Rd as part of their revamped coaching line-up.
The three-time Brisbane premiership defender was an assistant coach from 2009-13 before he took the Lions' senior role.
Brisbane sacked him at the end of this season and, earlier this week, appointed Chris Fagan as his replacement.
"Justin obviously knows Damien and our staff very well, and the knowledge and experience he's gained in his senior coaching role over the last three years will be really beneficial to our football program," said new Tigers football manager Neil Balme.
"Justin has maintained great relationships with our staff and players in recent years and I understand he played a key role in the development of our backline players in his previous time at the club."
The Tigers enticed Balme to leave Collingwood and return to the club.
They have also overhauled their coaching staff, with Blake Caracella joining from Geelong as another assistant.
There is growing pressure on Hardwick after Richmond missed the finals this season.
A failed board challenge highlighted unrest among their long-suffering fans.
