Fit Docker Bennell hungrier than ever
Jan 23, 2017 - 5:18 AM Injury-plagued Fremantle midfielder Harley Bennell says he's hungrier than ever to return to AFL ranks following a frustrating run of calf issues.Bennell missed all of last season because of problems with his right calf, and he suffered a blow two months ago when he injured his 'good' left calf.
In a bid to find a fix to Bennell's issues, Fremantle sent their star recruit to Germany in December to receive preventative treatment from soft-tissue expert Dr Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt.
Bennell say's he's been feeling good since receiving the treatment.
"It's coming along really well. Hopefully it does the job and I can get out there and kick some goals," Bennell told the club's website.
"I'm slowly and gradually getting some K's into my legs and my calves.
"It's coming along really well and I'm just really looking forward to getting out there with the boys and I'll hopefully get some games under my belt.
"I can't wait. I'm hungrier than ever and I'm doing everything right to get my body right and get ready for a big season."
Bennell was fined $400 and disqualified from driving for nine months after being caught driving with a suspended licence in December.
His licence was suspended in November after accruing too many demerit points.
Bennell is still yet to play a senior game for the Dockers since making a high-profile move away from Gold Coast at the end of the 2015 season.
The 24-year-old is rated as one of the brightest talents in the game but injuries and off-field issues have limited him to just 45 games over the past four seasons.
