Swans turn to Lockett for AFL goals
Mar 14, 2017 - 9:42 AM The AFL's record goal kicker Tony Lockett is back at the Sydney Swans with the club announcing he will work as a specialist coach with the team's forwards.Lockett will make the trip to Sydney from his home in Bowral fortnightly to attend training and mentor the likes of Lance Franklin, Sam Reid and Kurt Tippett.
"It's fantastic for our players to have access to Tony during our training sessions" Swans coach John Longmire told the club's official website.
"He obviously knows a thing or two about goal-kicking, and to be able to draw upon that experience and knowledge can only be a good thing for our players."
Longmire revealed that the club have been eager to entice Lockett - who kicked 1360 goals in 281 games for St Kilda and the Swans - back in to the fold for some time.
It's 51-year-old Lockett's first role with a football club, in any capacity, since his retirement in 2002.
