Suns star suspended for another AFL game
Jun 11, 2017 - 5:46 AM Gold Coast's Jarrod Harbrow will miss another AFL match as part of his punishment for being charged with drink driving. The 28-year-old was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol by Queensland Police last week after he recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.108.
Already stood down for Saturday's game against Hawthorn at the MCG - won by the Suns by 16 points - the club says he will also be suspended for the round 13 home match against Carlton.
He must also make a $5,000 donation to a road trauma charity - with a further $5,000 fine suspended - and must enrol in a traffic offenders program.
"I'm incredibly embarrassed and ashamed of my actions and I want to apologise to the football club, the supporters and my family and teammates for letting them down," Harbrow told reporters this week.
"This isn't acceptable and it was a really poor judgement I made.
"It was a fair bit (to drink). I had no idea at the time or I wouldn't have jumped in the car."
Harbrow was drinking by himself at his home on Sunday and was pulled over by police on Monday morning.
He will continue his involvement in his leadership academy at the club.
Harbrow has been a model citizen on and off the field since he switched from the Western Bulldogs ahead of the 2011 season - the Suns' inaugural AFL campaign.
The dashing defender has played 122 of his 192 career games with Gold Coast.
