Blues hope Lamb only misses one AFL game
Jun 30, 2017 - 1:41 AM Carlton hope forward Jed Lamb will only miss one AFL game after his heavy hit from Richmond opponent Bachar Houli.Blues coach Brendon Bolton praised Houli for making contact with Lamb after the Tigers star concussed him.
The case was referred directly to the tribunal, who created uproar when they banned Houli for two matches.
The AFL took the unprecedented step of appealing the lenient sentence and on Thursday night Houli's suspension was doubled.
As the appeal hearing unfolded, the Blues announced that Lamb would miss Saturday's game against Adelaide because of concussion.
Lamb is one of six Carlton omissions for the MCG match.
"From all reports Bachar reached out to Jed, which was a great gesture," Bolton said.
"What's happened here, the AFL has said the welfare of players is really important, the head is sacrosanct.
"Jed has no structural damage, but not quite ready to play - maybe another week."
Bolton did not want to comment on the week's events around the tribunal case.
"The AFL have said that welfare now is a priority and that's the main message of how it all unfolded," he said.
