American Pie signs new AFL deal
Sep 11, 2017 - 8:27 AM Collingwood have signed ruckman Mason Cox to a new three-year AFL deal.Cox, 26, played nine games this season to bring his career tally to 20.
Despite his inexperience, the 211cm American was reported to have attracted interest from rival AFL clubs before signing on with the Magpies.
"Mason has made tremendous progress but there is so much more to come from him, which has us really enthused about where he can take his game," Pies list manager Derek Hine said.
"He wants to learn, he learns quickly and physically he is an imposing package of height and athleticism that, combined with rapidly developing game awareness, makes him an exciting prospect."
Cox joined the Pies as an international rookie in 2014.
His new contract will keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2020 season and comes soon after lead ruckman Brodie Grundy agreed to a new deal.
