Kenny Anderson to coach CBA's Atlanta Krunk

Jun 19, 2007 - 6:41 PM ALBANY, New York (Ticker) - Former NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson has been hired as coach of the CBA's Atlanta Krunk, the league and team announced Tuesday.

Terms were not disclosed. Anderson, the second overall pick in the 1991 draft, played 14 seasons with nine teams, making the 1994 All-Star team as a member of the New Jersey Nets.

Anderson's staff with the fledgling organization will include assistant Vincent Smith and trainer Lamont Moreno, who also will assist in coaching.

"Being the head coach for the CBA's first team in Atlanta, the Atlanta Krunk, is a great opportunity," Anderson said. "Many great coaches started their career with the CBA, such as Phil Jackson, George Karl and Flip Saunders. "

Anderson, who played collegiately at Georgia Tech, was looking to get into coaching and found a willing partner in Krunk president and acting general manager Spyder D Hughes, a hip-hop producer and artist.

"I thought he'd be perfect for our organization," Hughes said.

"We are very excited about Kenny's inclusion into our basketball universe," said Krunk majority owner Freedom Williams, Hughes' music industry partner. "The Atlanta community is receiving home one of its prodigal sons and we are expecting a fantastic basketball season."
