Bishop's two scores push Argonauts past Tiger-Cats

Jan 9, 2008 - 5:40 PM TORONTO (Ticker) -- Michael Bishop threw two touchdown passes and Khalil Carter returned an interception for a touchdown as the Toronto Argonauts defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, 35-22, win on Saturday.

Toronto, which defeated Hamilton on Monday in the first game of this home-and-home matchup, registered its ninth straight regular-season win over the Tiger-Cats and improved to 16-1-1 in the last 18 meetings in this series.

After Hamilton recorded a safety just over four minutes into the first quarter to take an early 2-0 lead, the Argonauts' signal-caller led a six-play, 81-yard drive near the end of the first quarter - capped off by a 17-yard scoring pass to Jamall Broussard - to take a 8-2 lead.

Carter helped highlight a dominant performance by the defense, as he picked off one of Hamilton quarterback Timmy Chang's four interceptions and strolled 82 yards for a touchdown midway through the third quarter to increase Toronto's lead to 32-5. As a unit, the Argonauts defense allowed 158 total yards.

Bishop went 14-for-22 for Toronto (4-6), which moved to within two points of second-place Montreal (5-4) in the East Division. Chang completed 10 of 22 passes for 75 yards before getting pulled late in the third quarter by Richie Williams for Hamilton (1-9).
