Sutherland and Steve Waugh combine for CA
Dec 8, 2016 - 8:02 AM Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland may be meeting with Australian selectors again soon - except this time it could be about his son.William Sutherland, 17, stole the show at the under-19 national championships in Adelaide on Thursday, scoring an unbeaten 95 from 73 balls before backing it up with a five-wicket haul against Queensland.
Sutherland's knock for the CA XI included five fours and three sixes, and formed part of a 140-run partnership with Austin Waugh, son of former Australian captain Steve.
Sutherland then returned with figures of 5-27 from eight overs, including the scalp of Queensland Bulls rookie Bryce Street in his team's 100-run win.
The performances come after Waugh hit 53 on the opening day of tournament against the undefeated NSW Metro side.
The CA XI is comprised of the best players from the under-17 nationals carnival, which was held in September and October.
