Wood in England squad for Champions Trophy
Apr 25, 2017 - 10:00 AM Mark Wood has been named in England's 15-man squad for cricket's Champions Trophy after recovering from a third ankle operation. The 27-year-old right-arm seam bowler missed the entire winter for England but has done enough for county side Durham in the opening weeks of the English season to persuade selectors he is ready for the tournament in June.
Wood, who has been restricted because of injury to just 15 ODI caps since his debut in 2015, is one of five pacemen in the squad as England look to win their first 50-over ICC trophy.
Allrounder David Willey returns to the squad having missed the March tour of the West Indies with a shoulder injury.
England are in a Group A with Australia, Bangladesh and New Zealand in the eight-team Champions Trophy.
England play South Africa in a three-match series before the tournament.
England: Eoin Morgan (captain), Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Jake Ball, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler, Alex Hales, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, David Willey, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.
