Lowe wins spring debut for Braves

Feb 28, 2009 - 9:29 PM DUNEDIN, Florida (Ticker) -- Derek Lowe pitched two innings in his debut for his new team as the Atlanta Braves posted a 6-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in Grapefruit League action Saturday.

Signed to a four-year, $60 million contract in the offseason, Lowe is being counted on to bolster the Atlanta rotation.

Lowe's debut was a bit shaky, as he gave up five hits and one run. The sinkerballer struck out three and did not walk a batter.

Kelly Johnson paced the Atlanta offense, delivering a two-run double to highlight a four-run third inning.

It was a successful spring debut for Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay, who allowed two hits in two scoreless innings.

Jose Bautista had three hits for Toronto.
