Baker roughed up but Twins beat Yankees
Feb 27, 2009 - 10:52 PM LEE COUNTY, Florida (Ticker) -- Scott Baker was knocked around for three runs and six hits in two innings but the Minnesota Twins came from behind to claim a 5-4 victory over the New York Yankees in Grapefruit League action on Friday.The Twins' Opening Day starter, Baker is looking to build off an impressive campaign that saw him go 11-4 with a 3.45 ERA in 28 starts last season.
Jason Kubel blasted a home run and Danny Valencia had the go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning to keep the Twins unbeaten in three games this spring.
Ian Kennedy had an impressive spring training debut for the Yankees, allowing just one hit while striking out three during his two innings of work.
The Yankees got a home run from Justin Leone while Brett Gardner, who is a candidate to start in center field, reached base in all three plate appearances, scored a run and stole a pair of bases.
