Huff lifts Orioles over Marlins
Feb 28, 2009 - 9:19 PM FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (Ticker) -- Aubrey Huff had three hits and drove in three runs to lead the Baltimore Orioles past the Florida Marlins, 4-2, in Grapefruit League action Saturday.Orioles right fielder Nick Markakis, who signed a 6-year, $66.1 million, contract this offseason, had a pair of doubles and scored twice.
Staff ace Jeremy Guthrie (1-0) pitched three scoreless innings for the win, allowing three hits and a walk.
Florida starter Ricky Nolasco (0-1) took the loss, allowing four runs - three earned - and five hits over three innings. The righthander struck out three and did not allow a walk.
Jeremy Hermida accounted for the Marlins only run with a home run off Radhames Liz in the fourth inning.
