Twins stay perfect in spring play

Feb 28, 2009 - 9:19 PM TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- Carlos Gomez homered and Delmon Young collected three hits Saturday as the Minnesota Twins defeated the New York Yankees, 7-3, for their fourth straight Grapefruit League victory.

Gomez hit a solo homer in the second off Dan Giese, who allowed four runs in two innings.

New York starter Joba Chamberlain, who could skip his first regular-season start to allow CC Sabathia to pitch the opener in the new Yankee Stadium, surrendered two runs and three hits in one inning in his spring debut.

Minnesota starter Francisco Liriano also made his first appearance of the spring and yielded three runs - two earned - and four hits in two frames.

Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter drove in runs for the Yankees.
