Abreu, Angels top Rockies

Feb 28, 2009 - 12:26 AM TEMPE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Bobby Abreu had a pair of doubles and scored a run as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim posted a 5-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Friday.

The veteran outfielder signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Angels this offseason after spending the last two-plus seasons with the New York Yankees.

Fernando Rodriguez allowed two hits and struck out four in two innings and Ryan Brasier threw two perfect frames for Anaheim.

Garrett Atkins and Brad Hawpe each drove in a run for the Rockies.

After joining Colorado in the offseason trade with Oakland for Matt Holliday, lefthander Greg Smith was tagged for three runs, three hits and three walks over two innings.

Glendon Rusch gave up two hits and struck out two in two innings.
