All-Star duo propels Rangers over Padres

Mar 6, 2009 - 12:29 AM SURPRISE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Ian Kinsler belted a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning on Thursday and the Texas Rangers held off the San Diego Padres' late rally to come away with a 4-3 victory in Cactus League action.

The star second baseman had a big day, delivering two hits and scoring twice. His All-Star counterpart, Josh Hamilton, did his part, scoring Kinsler on a first-inning RBI single.

With his 2-for-3 performance, Hamilton improved his average to .500 this spring. Scott Feldman pitched two scoreless innings to earn the victory for the Rangers.

The Padres scored three runs in the later innings, but couldn't get over the hump.
