Ramirez lifts Marlins in Guillen's return

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Hanley Ramirez hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning on Tuesday and the Marlins downed the Cubs, 5-2, in manager Ozzie Guillen's return to the dugout.

The game was played in Miami, a city and community which generally focused its ire on Guillen after he spoke favorably of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro in an interview with Time magazine. The club suspended its first-year manager five games as a result and the Marlins lost two in a row to the Phillies before taking 2-of-3 from the Astros over that span.

"This is the place I want to be," said Guillen. "Every time I step up in the dugout or put a baseball uniform on that's Ozzie Guillen, that's what I want and that's what I love the best."

Josh Johnson allowed two runs in a seven-inning start on Tuesday, Steve Cishek (1-0) tossed a scoreless eighth for the win and Heath Bell picked up his first save of the season in the opener of this three-game series.

Alfonso Soriano and Bryan LaHair had an RBI apiece for the Cubs, losers of three straight. Ryan Dempster gave up two unearned runs in a six-inning start and Rafael Dolis (0-1) took the loss, giving up three runs -- two earned -- in the eighth.

"It's tough. I felt like I made a lot of good pitches today," Dempster said. "It's unfortunate we came out behind."

Dolis threw a scoreless seventh, but Jose Reyes reached on second baseman Darwin Barney's error to start the eighth and Emilio Bonifacio followed with a walk. Ramirez then turned on a 3-1 fastball and sent it deep over the fence in left-center.

The Cubs went up 1-0 in the fourth when Barney and Starlin Castro led off with consecutive singles before Soriano's RBI groundout.

Gaby Sanchez began the home fifth with a double and scored two batters later when Dempster fielded Johnson's high chopper and overthrew LaHair at first. Later in the inning, Bonifacio slapped a go-ahead, two-out RBI single.

In the seventh, Steve Clevenger doubled and scored the tying run on LaHair's single, narrowly beating the throw home with a head-first slide.

Game Notes

Bonifacio went 2-for-2...The Cubs had won their last five away games against the Marlins dating back to 2010...LaHair extended his hit streak to seven games. He has reached base safely in eight straight games.
