Dunn homers twice as White Sox beat Mariners

Apr 21, 2012 - 6:02 AM Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Adam Dunn smacked a pair of homers and drove in five runs, as the Chicago White Sox continued their success in the Emerald City with a 7-3 victory over the Mariners.

Chris Sale (2-1) had a career-best 11 strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings. The lefty gave up seven hits and three runs, as Chicago moved to 17-3 vs. Seattle since the start of the 2010 season.

"When you got guys swinging the bat the way they way they swung the bats today, it always makes you more comfortable, gets you in a rhythm, settles you down," Sale said. "They say pitching wins ball games, but, this one, that wasn't the case the way they were swinging the bats today, you can't ask for much more than that."

Seattle starter Hector Noesi (1-2) was charged with six hits and six runs over 1 1/3 innings.

"He was completely different today, he wasn't able to locate his fastball and his secondary stuff really never came into play," Mariners manager Eric Wedge said. "He just didn't have it today."

Ichiro Suzuki knocked in two runs for the Mariners, who have lost back-to-back contests.

Dunn doubled in Alejandro De Aza in the opening inning and Alex Rios added a bases-loaded sacrifice fly later in the frame.

It became 6-0 in the second. Brent Morel's single, the third straight Chicago hit, plated Gordon Beckham. Dunn then hit a titanic three-run homer to right- center.

That spelled the end for Noesi, who was replaced by Eramo Ramirez.

Suzuki doubled home Dustin Ackley in the third. Jesus Montero homered leading off the home sixth and Suzuki singled in Brendan Ryan the following inning.

Dunn, though, belted a homer to right leading off the eighth for his 31st career multi-homer game, but his first with the White Sox.
