Sep 16, 2012 - 5:26 AMVideo
Andy Parrino went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and Logan Forsythe had two hits and scored a run for the Padres, winners in five of their last six.
Casey Kelly (2-1) earned the win after giving up three runs -- two earned -- on seven hits over six-plus innings.
"The breaking ball was very solid today," Padres manager Bud Black said. "Velocity came back today."
Luke Gregerson worked a perfect ninth to earn his eighth save of the year.
Chris Nelson went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and Charlie Blackmon had two hits and knocked in a run for the Rockies, who have dropped eight of their last 10.
Drew Pomeranz (1-9) lasted just three innings after giving up four runs on four hits.
San Diego took a 1-0 lead in the second when Cameron Maybin singled then scored when Parrino followed with a double.
Guzman's three-run shot in the third put the Padres ahead 4-0. Forsythe singled and Chase Headley walked before Guzman crushed a home run to center.
"More times than not you pay for that," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. "It's quite an uphill battle in this ballpark."
The Rockies plated three in the seventh to cut their deficit to 4-3. Wilin Rosario reached on a fielding error and Tyler Colvin singled before Nelson doubled to score Rosario.
Colvin, who moved to third on the play, scored when Blackmon ripped a single to right field. DJ LeMahieu followed with a sacrifice fly to plate Nelson.

The Padres are 63-1 when leading after eight ... Gregerson extended his scoreless streak to 6 1/3 innings ... San Diego went just 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base ... Nelson extended his hitting streak to seven games.
