DeWayne Wise singled in Alex Rios with two outs to get the White Sox within a run and Alexei Ramirez walked to fill the bases. Wilhelmsen, in relief of Kameron Loe (1-0), then fanned Tyler Flowers to earn his second save of the year. Wilhelmsen threw 34 pitches in the final inning.
Franklin Gutierrez went 3-for-5 with a leadoff homer and drove in three runs for the Mariners. Morales knocked in two runs as the Mariners won on the South Side of Chicago for just the fourth time in their last 23 tries.
Mariners starter Blake Beavan gave up six hits and five runs through five frames.
"They're not guys out there who are trying to steal bases and hit-and-runs," Beavan said of the White Sox. "They're hitting the long ball."
Alejandro De Aza belted a two-run homer and Rios delivered a solo blast for the White Sox, but Nate Jones (0-1) gave up four hits and two runs and was saddled with his first major league defeat after going 8-0 last season.
Gutierrez singled to start the 10th and went to second on a groundout before scoring on the Morales double to right field, a low liner past first base. With two outs, Montero singled to center to drive in pinch-runner Robert Andino. Kyle Seager doubled to right, but Montero was thrown out at the plate.
In the bottom half, Rios walked with one out, and made it to third. Konerko walked before Wise made it a one-run game with his grounder into right field, but the White Sox faltered at the finish.
Gutierrez homered to right field to start the game, but the White Sox tied it in the fourth on Paul Konerko's RBI single to right-center field.
An error by White Sox starter Jose Quintana opened the door for a big five-run inning for the Mariners in the fifth. Jason Bay doubled, and then Quintana tried to barehand a flip to first base, but dropped the ball with Dustin Ackley reaching safely.
Seattle then put together five consecutive hits. Brendan Ryan singled in a run, Gutierrez roped a two-run double down the left field line and Michael Saunders tripled to right. Morales singled in another run before Michael Morse ended the hit parade with a single.
Gordon Beckham's sacrifice fly and homers from De Aza and Rios in the bottom half had the White Sox within a run. Chicago tied it in the seventh when Rios' grounder plated Beckham.
"That's the good part about being able to hit home runs, you can get back into the game pretty quick," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "The offense didn't give up all night."
Game Notes
Gutierrez has three career lead-off homers ... The Mariners have won just two of the last 13 meetings ... Seattle has not won back-to-back games against the White Sox since Sept. 16-17, 2009.
