Goldschmidt lead D'backs past Dodgers

Sep 12, 2013 - 5:56 AM Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Paul Goldschmidt tallied four hits and a pair of RBI in the Arizona Diamondbacks' 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the finale of a three-game set.

Patrick Corbin (14-6), who snapped a three-start losing streak, surrendered a run on eight hits and two walks over 6 1/3 innings for Arizona, which snapped a three-game slide and a five-game losing streak to Los Angeles.

"We got runs early and a great pitching performance from Patrick," Arizona manager Kirk Gibson said.

Hyun-Jin Ryu (13-6) allowed three runs on 10 hits over six frames for the Dodgers, who have dropped five of their last seven tilts. Yasiel Puig smacked a solo homer among his two hits in defeat.

"Ryu hung in there and gave us a chance to win," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said.

Arizona jumped out to a 4-0 lead after pushing across two runs in the first, one in the second and another in the seventh.

Consecutive singles to start the game by A.J. Pollock, Willie Bloomquist and Goldschmidt plated the game's first run. Martin Prado then grounded into a double play with runners on the corners to bring home another run.

Tuffy Gosewich's one-out RBI double in the second and Goldschmidt's RBI single in the seventh gave the Diamondbacks their four-run cushion.

Puig's one-out blast in the seventh got the Dodgers on the board, but David Hernandez tossed a perfect eighth and Brad Ziegler spun a 1-2-3 ninth to notch his 10th save of the season.
