RHP Burnett aims to get Blue Jays back on track

May 22, 2007 - 1:35 PM Toronto (19-24) at Baltimore (20-24) 7:05 pm EDT

BALTIMORE (Ticker) -- The Toronto Blue Jays hope to improve on their dismal road record when they open a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday.

Toronto has dropped eight of its last nine games on the road this month in falling to 7-13 away from the Rogers Centre - tied for second-worst in the American League.

A.J. Burnett (4-3, 3.99 ERA) hopes to keep his impressive pitching going for the Blue Jays. He has yielded two runs with 20 strikeouts in his last two starts - both wins.

In his last outing, Burnett held the Orioles to just one run and three hits for his first complete game win of the season. The 6-4 righthander is searching for his third straight win since taking four in a row from August 6-22.

Burnett is 2-0 with a 2.28 ERA in three career starts against Baltimore.

The Orioles will counter with Daniel Cabrera (3-4, 4.27), who was also impressive when both teams met. He went eight strong innings, giving up two runs and three hits.

The Dominican righthander is winless with a 3.68 ERA in two starts against Toronto.
