Phillies look to get back on track against Giants
Jun 1, 2007 - 2:14 PM San Francisco (25-27) at Philadelphia (26-27), 7:05 pm EDTPHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- After a 12-5 stretch lifted the Philadelphia Phillies a season-high two games above .500, a three-game losing streak has brought them back down to earth.
The Phillies will look to get back to winning when they host the San Francisco Giants on Friday.
Philadelphia got swept in a three-game home series by the Arizona Diamondbacks, getting outscored 20-12. Lack of clutch hitting was the Phillies achilles' heel in the series as they left 36 runners on base in the three games.
Philadelphia will have to get its hits against a tough starter, Giants righthander Matt Morris (5-2, 2.90 ERA). The veteran hurler has surrendered more than three earned runs in just one of his ten starts this season.
Morris earned a win in San Francisco's last trip here, holding the Phillies to two runs and eighth hits in seven innings on May 4.
The Phillies will counter with Adam Eaton (5-3, 5.73), who has pitched well recently, winning his last two starts while allowing a combined four earned runs in 12 innings.
Eaton picked up an ugly win when he faced the Giants on May 3, earning the win despite allowing six runs and eight hits in five frames.
San Francisco has lost five of six.
