Braves-Mets rained out; doubleheader Saturday

Sep 13, 2008 - 1:21 AM FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- The game between the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets on Friday was postponed due to rain.

The contest has been rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on Saturday. The originally scheduled game will begin at 3:55 p.m. EDT, and the make-up of Friday's matchup will start approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the opener.

A pair of lefthanders will square off in the opener, as former Met Mike Hampton (2-2) faces Johan Santana (13-7). New York's ace has won six straight decisions since losing to the crosstown rival Yankees on June 28.

In the nightcap, Jo-Jo Reyes (3-10) will be seeking his first victory since June 13 when he pitches against rookie Jonathon Niese (0-0), who will be making his second career start.

New York (82-63) currently owns a three-game lead over Philadelphia (80-67) in the National League East Division. The Phillies' home game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday also was postponed due to rain.
