Giants baffled by A's pitching
Jun 14, 2008 - 2:27 PM Oakland (36-31) at San Francisco (30-38) 9:05 pm EDTSAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- Strong pitching has helped the Oakland Athletics dominate the "Bay Bridge Series."
Rich Harden tries to continue that trend on Saturday when the Athletics meet the San Francisco Giants in the middle game of their interleague series.
Oakland has posted a minuscule 1.83 ERA en route to winning six of its last seven games against the Giants, including a 5-1 victory in Friday's series opener.
San Francisco's lone run came when Omar Vizquel stole home in the second inning - the Giants' only run over its last 30 innings against their cross-state rivals.
With Friday's setback, San Francisco (30-38) fell to a major-league worst 13-20 at home this season.
Harden (3-0, 2.85 ERA) looks to hand the Giants their 11th loss in their last 13 games at AT&T Park when he takes the mound on Saturday.
The 26-year-old righthander, who has already been on the 15-day disabled list twice this season, hasn't factored in the decision during any of his last three starts despite allowing just six runs in 19 2/3 innings over that span.
Matt Cain (3-4, 4.43) tries to win back-to-back starts for the first time in 2008 when he counters for the Giants.
