Harden looks for second straight strong outing

Oct 1, 2006 - 3:25 PM Oakland (92-69) at LA Angels (89-72) 3:35 pm EDT

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- Rich Harden and the Oakland Athletics look for a quality tuneup heading into the postseason when they face the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the season finale Sunday.

Plagued by injuries for most of the season, Harden (4-0, 3.35 ERA) aims for a second consecutive solid start.

Harden was sharp in his last outing, yielding two hits and striking out five in five scoreless innings of a 12-3 triumph over Seattle on Tuesday. In 10 career starts against the Angels, Harden is 5-3 with a 3.38 ERA.

Dropping a 7-6 decision on Saturday, the American League West champion A's have dropped their last three games.

The Angels counter with Dustin Moseley (1-0, 5.14), who will make his second career major league start.

Moseley recorded his first on July 17 against the Cleveland Indians, allowing four runs and 12 hits in seven innings of a 10-5 victory. The righthander also had a relief outing on September 16, tossing two scoreless frames.

The Angels scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning for Saturday's win. Maicer Izturis smacked a two-run double and Chone Figgins followed with a two-run single in the decisive rally.

Francisco Rodriguez struck out the side in the ninth to record his major-league leading 47th save.
