Royals look to continue home dominance of Red Sox

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- The Kansas City Royals love when the Boston Red Sox visit Kauffman Stadium.

The Royals seek their seventh straight home win over the Red Sox on Wednesday when the teams continue a three-game series.

Despite eclipsing 100 losses in each of the last three seasons, the Royals have enjoyed success over the Red Sox, who have won a World Series and made the playoffs three times in the last four campaigns.

Kansas City has won seven of the last 11 meetings between the teams overall.

Gil Meche worked seven outstanding innings in his debut for his new team, and Mark Grudzielanek had three hits and three RBI to lift the Royals to a 7-1 victory over the Red Sox on Monday.

Trying to reverse their trend here, the Red Sox hand the ball to Josh Beckett, who is coming off a disappointing first season in Boston.

Beckett went 16-11 last season but pitched to a 5.01 ERA and surrendered 36 home runs. He did enjoy success against the Royals, going 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA in three starts.

The Royals counter with Odalis Perez, who was 6-8 with a 6.20 ERA in 20 combined starts between the Royals and the Los Angeles Dodgers last season.

Boston All-Star designated hitter David Ortiz is 4-for-6 lifetime against Perez with a home run and a triple. Ortiz batted .344 (11-for-32) against the Royals last season.
