Diamondbacks open four-game series vs. Nationals

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks will visit the nation's capital to face the Washington Nationals on Thursday in the opener of a four-game series.

Arizona will start Edgar Gonzalez, who went 3-4 with a 4.22 ERA in five starts and six relief outings last season.

The Mexican righthander will be making his first career appearance against the Nationals.

Washington will send Jason Bergmann to the mound. Bergmann was 0-2 with a 6.68 ERA in six starts and 23 bullpen appearances last season.

The Nationals salvaged the finale of a three-game series with a come-from-behind 7-6 win over Florida on Wednesday. Dmitri Young capped a three-run ninth inning rally with an RBI single.

"We got our first victory out of the way," Young said. "We play as a team and we played in dramatic fashion. We never gave up, we grinded it out for 27 outs."

Arizona lost two of three games in Colorado.
