Blue Jays look to continue hot hitting

TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Toronto Blue Jays hope to continue their hot start with the bats when they host the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.

Toronto, the American League's highest scoring offense and the best hitting team in the majors, has outscored the opposition, 23-9 in winning its last three games. The Blue Jays have pounded out 36 hits during the winning streak.

The team has enjoyed strong production from the bottom of the order - Toronto's 6-9 hitters have batted .378 (17-for-45) and scored 11 runs over the last three games. The Blue Jays are hitting .306 as a team.

Josh Towers (NR) will make his first start of the season for Toronto. He went 2-10 with a career-worst 8.42 ERA in 15 games in 2006.

Towers is 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA in two career starts against the Royals - both in 2005.

The Royals have dropped five of their last six games and are one defeat away from their third straight series loss. They have only scored more than three runs once since collecting seven runs against Boston on Opening Day.

Kansas City will send Zack Greinke (0-1, 1.29 ERA) to the mound. He missed most of last season due to social anxiety disorder. Greinke is 0-2 with a 7.50 ERA in two career starts against the Blue Jays.
