Halladay, Bonderman face off in Opening Day rematch
Apr 13, 2007 - 3:39 PM Detroit (6-3) at Toronto (5-4) 7:07 pm EDTTORONTO (Ticker) -- Roy Halladay looks to continue his dominance against the Detroit Tigers - even if he wasn't successful on Opening Day.
Halladay will take the hill for the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday vs. Jeremy Bonderman and the Tigers in a rematch of the first game of the season for both clubs.
The former Cy Young Award winner is 10-2 with a 1.93 ERA in 13 career games against Detroit, including a 5-1 mark with a 1.41 ERA in six games - five starts - at home. But on Opening Day, he did not figure in the decision in the Blue Jays' 5-3 win in 10 innings. Detroit chipped away against Halladay (1-0, 3.46 ERA), who allowed three runs - two earned - and six hits in six frames on April 2.
In that contest, Bonderman (0-0, 3.75) lasted six innings, allowing three first-inning runs but tossed five scoreless frames the rest of the way. The hard-throwing righthander is 2-1 with a 3.46 ERA in seven games - six starts - against the Blue Jays in his career.
Detroit has won four of its last five games, including a 5-4 win over Toronto on Thursday. Brandon Inge, who had just one hit entering Thursday's contest, drove in three runs.
Toronto third basemen Troy Glaus left after two frames with heel soreness.
