Angels seek to snap five-game losing streak

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are slumping after a strong start.

The Angels hope to snap a five-game losing streak when they visit the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday.

Anaheim has been outscored, 33-6 during the losing streak. The Angels began the season with a 5-1 record.

John Lackey (2-1, 2.04 ERA) starts Wednesday for Oakland. The righthander dominated the Athletics on April 10, surrendering just one run in seven innings. Lackey owns a career 10-2 record with a 2.80 ERA in 19 starts against Oakland.

Dan Haren (0-2, 2.00) starts for the Athletics. The 26-year-old righthander has been the victim of poor run support in his three starts. Haren has allowed four earned runs in 18 innings, but the A's have scored just six runs for him.

Haren has had a difficult time with the Angels in his two-plus seasons in Oakland, posting a 2-5 record with a 4.58 ERA in eight starts.

The A's spoiled Jered Weaver's season debut Tuesday night with a 4-1 victory over the Angels.
