Orioles aim to end A's recent success at Camden Yards
Apr 24, 2007 - 1:39 PM Oakland (10-9) at Baltimore (11-8) 3:05 pm EDTBALTIMORE (Ticker) -- The Baltimore Orioles had their seven-game home winning streak snapped on Monday. One day later, they want to end the hex the Oakland Athletics have on them at Camden Yards.
With their win on Monday, the Athletics are 12-2 in their last 14 games at Camden Yards. Over the last three-plus seasons, the A's are 18-6 against Baltimore.
Dan Haren allowed five hits over seven innings and Nick Swisher hit two home runs and drove in three runs in the Athletics' 6-5 victory here in the opener of this two-game series.
When Miguel Tejada takes the field on Tuesday, it will mark the 1,100th consecutive game the former Oakland shortstop has started.
Baltimore's Jeremy Guthrie (1-0, 3.38 ERA) will be making just the second start of his career. In his last outing, a relief appearance on April 16 against Tampa Bay, the righthander allowed one run and one hit with three walks and three strikeouts over 2 1/3 innings to pick up the win.
Dallas Braden (NR) will make his major league debut for the Athletics. The lefthander went 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 18 inningsin the minor leagues.
