Orioles look to bounce back against red-hot Indians
Apr 27, 2007 - 1:31 PM Baltimore (11-11) at Cleveland (12-7) 7:05 pm EDTCLEVELAND (Ticker) -- The Cleveland Indians are surging. The Baltimore Orioles are falling.
The Indians aim for their sixth straight win Friday when they meet the Orioles in the opener of a three-game series.
Cleveland has been getting it done with offense, scoring 35 runs during its winning streak.
Baltimore is moving in the opposite direction, following up a stretch of eight out of nine wins with a four-game losing streak. The Orioles got solid starting pitching performances in each of their last two games, but were let down by the bullpen, which allowed seven runs in two losses to Boston.
Jake Westbrook (0-2, 9.15 ERA) gets the start for the Indians. The veteran sinkerballer will be trying to get back on track after a rough first four starts. Westbrook has yielded 20 earned runs in 19 combined innings this season.
Baltimore will counter with veteran Steve Trachsel (1-1, 4.37). The 36-year-old was impressive in his last outing, allowing one run and four hits in 5 1/3 innings to pick up a win against Toronto on Sunday.
