Astros hope to snap skid against NL Central-leading Brewers

Apr 28, 2007 - 3:01 PM Milwaukee (14-8) at Houston (9-13), 7:05 pm EDT

HOUSTON (Ticker) - The Houston Astros have had trouble scoring runs lately, leading to their longest losing streak in nearly two years.

The Astros hope to end their seven-game skid when they host the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday in the second game of a three-game series.

Houston has failed to score more than four runs in any of its last seven games, while $100 million slugger Carlos Lee has not homered since April 17 against Florida.

The Astros have not lost eight straight games since May 2001.

Rookie righthander Chris Sampson takes the mound, coming off his worst outing of the season. On Monday, Sampson (2-1, 4.26 ERA) allowed seven runs and 14 hits in just four innings of a loss at Philadelphia.

The Brewers counter righthander Dave Bush, who is going for his second straight win against the Astros. Bush (2-1, 5.04) pitched eight strong innings Sunday vs. Houston.

Milwaukee has won seven of its last nine games to move into first place in the Central Division.
