Buehrle makes first home start since no-hitter

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Mark Buehrle takes the mound at U.S. Cellar Field on Sunday for the first time since his no-hitter, as the Chicago White Sox look to take a three-game series from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Buehrle (2-0, 2.59 ERA) has pitched since the no-hitter, just not at home, where he will no doubt receive a raucous ovation. In his last start Buehrle allowed three runs and five hits in seven innings against Kansas City. In that game he extended his scoreless innings streak to 19 before surrendering a home run to John Buck, in a 7-4 win on Tuesday.

Buehrle hopes his teammates can continue their domination of Kelvim Escobar (1-1, 3.71) and get him his third win of the season. Escobar has struggled against Chicago posting a lifetime record of 2-9 with a 5.93 ERA.

Escobar recently returned from the disabled list and after being sidelined with shoulder irritation and pitched 5 2/3 innings against Detroit on Wednesday. The righthander allowed four runs - three earned - and five hits in a no-decision.

The teams spilt the first two games of the series, with the Angels winning 3-0 on Saturday behind Jered Weaver, who threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings.
