Park makes Mets debut versus Marlins

FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- Orlando Hernandez's pain is Chan Ho Park's gain.

The New York Mets will send Park to the mound Monday when they open a three-game series with the Florida Marlins.

The Mets were forced to rework their rotation Monday, placing Hernandez on the 15-day disabled list and recalling Park from the minors.

Nicknamed, "El Duque," Hernandez has pitched very well this year despite battling bursitis in his right shoulder, going 2-1 with a 2.53 ERA in five starts.

However, the Mets were forced to scratch the Cuban righthander from his scheduled outing Monday.

To replace Hernandez, the Mets recalled Park (NR) from Class AAA New Orleans. The Korean righthander, who will start Monday's contest, struggled with the Zephyrs, going 3-1 with a 7.29 ERA in four starts.

A former All-Star, the 33-year-old Park pitched for the San Diego Padres last season, going 7-7 with a 4.81 ERA in 24 games - 21 starts.

Florida sends Scott Olsen (2-1, 6.23 ERA) to the mound. The lefthander is coming off his best start of the season, an outing in which he allowed three runs and struck out 10 while not factoring in the decision against Atlanta on Wednesday.

However, in his two prior starts he allowed 10 runs over 7 2/3 innings.

New York won two games from Florida by a combined 20-5 margin earlier this month.
