Diamondbacks seek to extend six-game winning streak
May 1, 2007 - 3:28 PM Arizona (16-11) at LA Dodgers (15-11) 10:10 pm EDTLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks seek to extend their six-game winning streak when they visit the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday.
Arizona took advantage of a tired Dodgers team that won a 17-inning marathon the day before and won for the first time in five road games on Monday as rookie Chris Young homered twice and staff ace Brandon Webb allowed one run and four hits in seven innings to earn the win.
The current win streak comes on the heels of a five-game skid. Arizona has not won seven in a row since April 30 - May 6 of last season.
Orlando Hudson recorded his 12th multi-hit game of the season, going 3-for-5, and is batting .352. He has reached base in all 27 games and has a .385 lifetime average against the Dodgers.
Arizona will start Livan Hernandez (2-1, 3.94 ERA), who allowed three runs and four hits in seven innings to earn the win in the Diamondbacks' 7-4 victory over San Diego last Thursday. The righthander went 1-1 with a 4.05 ERA in three starts against Los Angeles in 2006.
Los Angeles counters with Brad Penny (3-0, 1.95), who takes the mound trying to put an end to Los Angeles' five-game home skid. The Dodgers are 4-1 in Penny's starts this season, with the lone loss coming last Thursday in a 5-4 loss to San Francisco. The righthander gave up three runs in six innings
Penny allowed one run and five hits in seven innings to beat Arizona on April 16. He is 6-2 with a 2.03 ERA in 12 career starts against the Diamondbacks.
