Snell and Marquis duel at PNC Park

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs will complete a suspended game on Wednesday before playing their scheduled afternoon contest at PNC Park.

Tuesday's game was suspended due to rain in the bottom of the seventh inning after the Cubs scored four runs in the top of the frame to take a 6-5 lead.

Ian Snell (2-1, 1.59 ERA) will get the ball for Pittsburgh in the scheduled game. The young righthander has pitched at least seven innings in four of his five starts and did not allow more than two earned runs.

Snell picked up a win in his last outing, tossing seven shutout innings and allowing six hits against Cincinnati on Friday.

The Cubs will counter with Jason Marquis (3-1, 2.35), who led the National League with 16 losses last season. But this campaign, he has been everything Chicago hoped for when it signed him to a three-year, $21 million deal in the offseason.

Marquis has picked up wins in his last three starts, yielding just four runs in 19 2/3 innings during that span.

But the righthander will have to find a way to stop Pirates slugger Jason Bay, who owns a .458 (11-for-24) average with four homers and nine RBI against Marquis.
