Oswalt seeks to continue mastery of Reds

HOUSTON (Ticker) -- Roy Oswalt has dominated many teams over the years, especially the Cincinnati Reds.

Looking for his 18th career victory against the Reds, Oswalt will take the mound for the Houston Astros when the teams face off on Wednesday.

The Astros' ace has dropped his last two decisions - both against Milwaukee - but is 17-1 with a 2.54 ERA in 22 games - 20 starts - against Cincinnati, his most wins against any team.

Oswalt (3-2, 3.43 ERA) might need to continue his dominance against the Reds the way Houston has been hitting lately. The Astros have dropped nine of 10, while scoring just 21 runs in the nine losses.

The Reds will throw Kyle Lohse (1-1, 2.88) at Houston's struggling offense. The veteran righthander has been surprisingly effective this season, including two straight scoreless outings on April 15 and 20.

Lohse posted a 5.85 ERA last season with the Minnesota Twins and the Reds.

The Reds took the first game of the series, 11-2 on Tuesday. Adam Dunn, Alex Gonzalez and Ken Griffey Jr. each homered and Bronson Arroyo pitched seven strong innings.
