Scioscia looks to set club record against Royals

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia can surpass Bill Rigney as the franchise's all-time winningest manager on Wednesday when the Angels visit the Kansas City Royals.

Rigney managed the club from 1961-69 and compiled 625 wins. Scioscia is in his eighth season as Angels manager and has the same amount of wins.

The Angels are coming off a 7-5 victory at Kansas City on Tuesday for their 10th win in 12 games. They had dropped six straight from April 12-18.

The Angels also will be seeking their seventh consecutive victory over the Royals at Kauffman Stadium.

Anaheim will send Ervin Santana (2-3, 5.79 ERA) to the mound, hoping he can snap out of his personal four-game road losing streak. He is 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA in two starts at Angel Stadium, but is 0-3 with a 9.64 ERA on the road.

The young righthander allowed four runs and five hits with six walks in 5 2/3 innings as Los Angeles suffered a 7-3 loss at Chicago on Friday. He is 1-0 with a 5.73 ERA in two starts against the Royals, who have lost three in a row and eight of 11.

Kansas City will counter with Jorge De La Rosa (2-2, 3.82). The lefthander surrendered five runs and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings in a 7-4 loss at Seattle last Friday.
