Phillies turn to Moyer against the Giants
May 4, 2007 - 1:17 PM Philadelphia (13-15) at San Francisco (14-13) 10:15 pm EDTSAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia Phillies turn to veteran Jamie Moyer as they look to continue their recent domination of the San Francisco Giants.
The Phillies will try to improve to .500 on the road (7-8) when they face the Giants on Friday.
Moyer is 3-1 with a 2.65 ERA, and is coming off his best performance of 2007 when he took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning vs. the Florida Marlins last Sunday. The 44-year-old lefthander yielded two hits over 7 1/3 shutout innings in a 6-1 victory.
Moyer is 4-4 with a 2.60 ERA in nine career starts versus the Giants.
Philadelphia has won 11 of its last 13 vs. San Francisco, including five of six on the road.
Matt Morris takes the mound for San Francisco, which has dropped five of its last seven games following an eight-game winning streak.
Morris (3-1, 3.34) is trying to rebound from his first defeat of the season. The righthander surrendered season highs in runs (five) and hits (12) over seven innings in a 5-4 loss to Arizona last Sunday.
Morris is 3-3 with a 4.09 ERA in 10 career games against Philadelphia.
San Francisco slugger Barry Bonds is 8-for-35 (.229) with five homers and three walks against Moyer.
