Cubs look to move above the .500 mark, face Nationals

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago Cubs plan to do something vs. the Washington Nationals that hasn't happened in nearly 15 years.

The Cubs aim to win their fifth straight game when they host the Nationals on Sunday.

Righthander Angel Guzman (0-0, 2.45 ERA) takes the mound for Chicago, which has not swept a three-game series from the Nationals since June 12-14, 1992, when the franchise was located in Montreal.

Guzman, who has yet to record a major league win, has made only four relief appearances spanning 7 1/3 innings this year. He went 0-6 with a 9.28 ERA in 10 starts last year

Chicago (14-14) has started May 4-0 and can move above the .500 for the first time since April 7 (3-2). The Cubs have won seven of eight including a 5-3 victory on Saturday. They are seeking their first five-game winning streak since July 8-15, 2005.

Washington, which has lost four straight, will start righthander Shawn Hill (2-3, 3.00) and hope to provide some offense for the 26-year old.

Hill allowed three runs and four hits in 6 1/3 innings in a 3-0 loss vs. the San Diego Padres on Tuesday. It was the third time this season the team failed to score a run while he was on the mound.

The Nationals (9-21) are trying to avoid being swept in a series for the second time this season. They dropped four games at home to Arizona from April 5-8.
