Cardinals look to get Reyes his first win

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- Anthony Reyes still is looking for his first win of the season.

Reyes takes the mound Monday when the St. Louis Cardinals host the Colorado Rockies in the opener of a three-game series.

Reyes (0-5, 5.46 ERA) is coming off a start in which he struck out a season-high eight and allowed just three earned runs in six innings but took the loss due to lack of run support as the Cardinals fell, 4-0, to Milwaukee on Wednesday.

The defending World Series champion Cardinals have struggled, losing six of their last eight games. They narrowly avoided their worst start in 34 years with a 3-2 win over Houston on Friday.

However, they took a three-game series from the Astros over the weekend and now look to build on that.

Meanwhile Colorado, which has won three of its last five contests, will send Jeff Francis (1-4, 6.19) to the mound Monday.

In his last time out Francis allowed four runs and seven hits in 7 1/3 innings as the Rockies lost, 5-3, to San Francisco on Wednesday.
