A's to face De La Rosa, Royals

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- The Oakland Athletics visit the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday hoping to do what no one else has done yet this season - beat Jorge De La Rosa at home.

De La Rosa (3-2, 3.38 ERA) has the best home record of any pitcher in the major leagues, compiling a 3-0 mark with a 0.82 ERA. The Royals have won just six games at home so far this season, and De la Rosa has been the pitcher of record in half of them.

The 26-year-old righthander pitched a gem last Wednesday against the Angels, yielding one run and five hits in seven innings to pick up the win.

The A's have managed a .500 record based mostly on the strength of their starting pitching. Oakland leads the American League with a 3.14 ERA.

Converted reliever Chad Gaudin (1-1, 2.70) takes the mound for the A's. Oakland has lost each of the 24-year-old's last two road starts, despite Gaudin having surrendered just three earned runs in 11 combined innings.

History is on the A's side, as they have taken 27 of their last 33 contests here.
