Lee faces A's in rubber game of series

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The Cleveland Indians are off to a strong start and they hope for a bigger boost from a strong lefthander.

Cliff Lee (1-0, 3.60 ERA) makes just his third start of the season when the Indians face the Oakland Athletics on Sunday in the rubber game of a three-game series.

The 28-year-old lefthander pitched a complete game in just his second start of the season last Tuesday, surrendering one run and three hits in a win at Anaheim.

Lee's presence in the rotation adds another veteran arm that already includes lefthanders C.C. Sabathia and Jeremy Sowers and righthanders Paul Byrd and Fausto Carmona.

The A's are no strangers to strong pitching, boasting a staff ERA of 3.10 - tops in the major leagues.

Chad Gaudin (2-1, 2.40) will try to keep the pitching solid for Oakland. The 24-year-old righthander picked up a win last Tuesday at Kansas City, yielding one run and five hits in eight innings.

Cleveland owns a major-league best 11-3 record at home, but is just .500 on the road (10-10).
