Unbeaten Capuano faces Mets

FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- Chris Capuano puts his perfect record on the line against one of the best lineups in baseball on Sunday.

Capuano (5-0, 3.21 ERA) takes the mound hoping to give the Milwaukee Brewers a series victory over the New York Mets.

Capuano threw eight shutout innings in a 3-0 win over Washington last Monday. Overall, he has tossed 11 straight scoreless innings and allowed just one run over his last 17.

The lefthander will get a stern test against the Mets, who lead the majors with a .281 team batting average.

New York has also won six of its last nine games against lefthanded starters.

The Mets will send a lefthander of their own to the mound as Oliver Perez (3-3, 3.48) gets the start on Sunday.

Two starts ago, Perez struck out 10 against Florida, but was rocked for eight runs in 4 2/3 innings in his last start against San Francisco.

The Mets snapped the Brewers' six-game winning streak with a 5-4 win on Saturday. Milwaukee responded with a 12-3 victory here on Saturday. J.J. Hardy hit a grand slam as the Brewers scored eight runs in the final two innings off the Mets' bullpen.
