RHP Maddux looks for sixth straight win over Reds
May 14, 2007 - 2:30 PM Cincinnati (15-23) at San Diego (20-18) 10:05 pm EDTSAN DIEGO (Ticker) - Greg Maddux looks to continue his dominance of the Cincinnati Reds on Monday when he gets the call for the San Diego Padres in the opener of a four-game series.
Maddux (2-2, 3.67 ERA) dominated the Reds last season, going 5-0 with a 2.40 ERA in 30 innings. The future Hall of Famer is 23-16 with a 3.52 ERA in his career against the Reds.
Facing Maddux is not good news for the Reds, who have lost 10 of their last 12 games.
Matt Belisle (3-2, 3.45) takes the mound for the Reds, who are 0-3 on a nine-game road trip. The righthander gave up three runs and six hits over seven innings in a 3-2 loss to Houston on Wednesday.
Ken Griffey Jr., who hit his 570th career homer on Sunday, is batting .355 (11-for-31) in his career against Maddux.
