Royals seek third consecutive win vs. A's

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The Kansas City Royals are looking to do something they haven't done since the end of last season.

The Royals hope to notch their third straight win when they visit the Oakland Athletics in the second game of a four-game series on Tuesday.

Kansas City has not captured three wins in a row since sweeping the Detroit Tigers in the final series in 2006. The Royals captured their fifth win in their last six games here with a 2-1 win in the opener on Monday.

John Buck continued his impressive hitting with a two-run homer in the ninth inning to snap a scoreless tie. He has two homers and five RBI in his last three games.

Brian Bannister (0-2, 4.60 ERA) takes the mound for the Royals after getting called up from Class AAA Omaha to replace Luke Hudson, who went on the 15-day disabled list with right biceps tendinitis.

In his last start on May 4, the righthanded Bannister was pounded for four runs in 4 2/3 innings of a 6-3 setback to the Detroit Tigers in his last start.

Oakland's Joe Kennedy (1-2, 2.83) tries to keep his perfect mark intact when facing Kansas City. He is 3-0 with a 4.33 ERA in nine career games against the Royals.

In his most recent matchup vs. Kansas City, Kennedy allowed three runs in six frames as the A's rolled to a 17-3 win just five days ago.

A's first baseman Dan Johnson, who started the season on the DL with a hip injury, will try to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. Johnson was named a co-winner of the American League Player of the Week with teammate Jack Cust on Monday.
