Marlins goes for back-to-back wins vs. Pirates
May 16, 2007 - 1:47 PM Florida (17-22) at Pittsburgh (17-21) 7:05 pm EDTPITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Florida Marlins will try to get a repeat performance in the third game of their four-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday.
Dan Uggla hit two homers and drove in four runs and Aaron Boone added three RBI as Florida coasted to a 9-3 victory Tuesday night.
Hanley Ramirez and Jeremy Hermida also homered for the Marlins, who bounced back from a 7-0 loss in the opener on Monday where they managed just six hits, including five singles.
"This is a good win for us," said Boone, who started at third in place of Miguel Cabrera. "We've scuffled a little bit lately, but a lot of guys had a hand in it offensively. It was nice to have a fun one where everyone has a hand in it."
Florida's Scott Olsen (3-3, 4.87 ERA) goes for his first triumph in three starts after dropping his last two, including a 6-0 setback at the Washington Nationals on Friday.
The 6-4 lefthander is 2-0 with a 2.13 ERA in as many career starts against Pittsburgh, surrendering just three earned runs and striking out 20 in 12 2/3 innings.
Zach Duke (1-4, 5.61) is coming off back-to-back losses for the Pirates, including Friday's 4-1 defeat to the Atlanta Braves.
After winning his second start of the year, the 23-year-old southpaw has been lackluster, going 0-4 with a 6.53 ERA over his last six outings.
