RHP Sosa goes for third consecutive win for Mets

FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- Jorge Sosa looks to remain undefeated as the New York Mets try to bounce back against the Chicago Cubs in the third game of a four-game series Wednesday.

Sosa (2-0, 2.77 ERA) has been impressive this season, allowing just four runs in 13 innings since being called up from Class AAA New Orleans on May 5 in place of injured starter Orlando Hernandez, who is sidelined with bursitis in his right shoulder.

In his previous start, Sosa yielded two runs and four hits in 6 2/3 innings of a 5-4 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday.

The Dominican righthander has not captured three starts in a row since winning a career-high four from September 3-20, 2005.

New York hopes to get a better effort following Tuesday's 10-1 thrashing at the hands of Chicago, which got a grand slam from third baseman Aramis Ramirez.

Ramirez has three homers and 10 RBI over his past six games, and is hitting .423 with three blasts in his last seven contests vs. the Mets.

Chicago's Rich Hill (4-2, 2.51) takes the ball as he tries to bounce back from his last start. Hill was pounded for five runs in five innings of a 7-2 setback at the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.

Prior to that outing, the lefthanded Hill had yielded just eight runs in 41 2/3 frames for the season.

Hill is 0-1 with a 47.25 ERA in his lone start against the Mets, failing to make it past the second inning as he gave up seven runs.
